New Beauty On Trial

new in beauty on trial

I love reading first impression posts and skincare routines, so thought I’d do something along those lines as I’m using quite a few new beauty bits at the moment that I’m really enjoying.

My skincare routine in particular is quite streamlined these days, no longer am I hoarding ten different cleansers (more like five), and I’m being a lot more selective with just how many nude pink lipsticks I need to own (still a lot for the average person I’m sure).

So new skincare is quite exciting for me at the moment! Hopefully you’ll find a few things here that might take your fancy too.

First up is a really quite interesting exfoliator. The Image Skincare ILUMA Intense Brightening Exfoliating Powder* is perfect for this time of year when we’re all obsessed with everything Halloween and pumpkin related! It uses pumpkin enzymes to slough away dead skin cells and impurities, and also includes a protein peptide complex and vitamins to feed the skin with goodness. It’s a powder which you mix with water in your hand to activate before massaging over the complexion to reveal soft and brighter skin.

The Image Skincare ILUMA Intense Brightening Exfoliating Powder gives intense benefits while being very gentle and kind on the skin. It’s so gentle in fact that you can use it every day and even mix it into your cleanser to supercharge it and save a bit of time in the morning.

This might be on the pricier scale when it comes to exfoliators, but the ingredient list is packed with quality actives and after just a week or so of using it I’m pretty impressed with how bright and even my skin is looking. I also love the smell it which really reminds me of custard creams!

I was kindly gifted the Neostrata Skin Intensive Eye Therapy* in an event goody bag a couple of weeks ago which really excited me as I’ve wanted to try this for some time. I hate the appearance of my puffy under eyes and fine lines so it’s really got something to work with!

It’s designed to target exactly my problem, puffiness and lines so I’m hopeful it will do the trick. It's formulated to get into the deeper layers of the skin to really work its magic. Apple stem cell extracts protect the skin’s own stem cells and tricks the skin into behaving as if it were younger.

While a lot of serums and treatments work at a superficial level, this Neostrata offering not only penetrates deeper and uses peptides to stimulate collagen production, but also helps support the structure of the surrounding skin which helps keep everything plump and youthful from the inside out.

As the Neostrata Skin Intensive Eye Therapy is so active I’m gently introducing it into my regime as advised, just using it in the evening at present. It’s a gel formula which is perfect for puffiness as some creams can make things worse. Two weeks in and my under eye area is much more nourished which is making it look less wrinkled and textured and my makeup is sitting better. I’m going to step up to twice a day at the weekend so I’ll give you a full update soon.

I saw this cute travel sized Omorovicza Queen of Hungry Facial Mist by the counter in Space NK and got a bit over excited and had to buy it. Darn those strategically placed mini products which get me every time! After seeing so many people praise it over the years I had to see what it was all about for myself. The mist is super fine so it doesn’t disturb my makeup when I use it during the day, but I do prefer using it as part of my skincare routine.

It’s refreshing and hydrating, which is something we can all afford to get more of. I’m always looking to sandwich layers of hydration in so this does the job perfectly. I love the smell of neroli too so it’s a wonderful indulgent little step to my routine.

I love facial mists and this really is no exception, although as it is a bit of an expensive princess product I’m probably not going to repurchase it on the regular. I'd be pretty happy to receive one for Christmas though…

Glossier, oh Glossier. They’re finally here in the UK at long last and I’ve been able to finish off my collection of Cloud Paints with Beam. It’s the most pretty peachy coral hue that suits my pale skin tone and makes me look a lot less dead!

Maybe not an obvious autumn shade to go for but I think the Glossier Beam Cloud Paint looks really flattering paired with a champagne eyeshadow such as Foxy from the Tarte Maneater palette, NYX Soft Matte Cream in Stockholm and my favourite deep burgundy Topshop knit. A couple of little dabs to each cheek is all that you need and it really perks up my pale complexion.

What's new in for you this month?
