Summer Nails

I don’t tend to wear that much colour on my nails throughout the year, but when summer rolls round its a great excuse to incorporate a bit of colour into my usually quite neutral nail wardrobe. I’ve picked out a few of my favourite summer nail shades which should keep you sorted throughout the summer months.

Essie Fifth Avenue is by no means a new addition to my nail polish collection. In fact this bottle is going on forever! Sitting somewhere between orange and red, this bright almost coral hue flatters all skin tones and looks especially good with one of my all black Summer Goth ensembles!

For a more muted look Essie Spin The Bottle is a great pick. It's a pale dusky pink that's very pretty and wearable but it's not quite down the french manicure or cutesy bridal route. It literally goes with anything so if I'm ever stuck which what shade to wear, this is my go-to. It also looks amazing with a tan!

As you've probably gathered, most of my nail polishes are Essie as I think for the price you can’t go wrong. The brush is the perfect shape and size and I think the longevity of their polishes is unrivalled. It’s not pure favouritism, I swear! So it’s no surprise that next on my list is Essie Watermelon. I can't get enough of this shocking pink shade! It's the brightest that I tend to go but it always receives lots of compliments.

In typical Laura fashion I managed to break 90% of my nails a few weeks ago so when I fancy a slightly longer nail or don’t want to wait for polish to dry I opt for a set of Kiss nails. The Gel Fantasy range is my favourite as they really do last ages. I’m head over heels for this gorgeous Kiss Gel Fantasy in Whatever* as they look super polished with the shiny gel finish and I love the squoval shape of the nails. They've also a good length too, not too long so they don't feel awkward and talon-esque. The Kiss Gel Fantasy nails are really good as they give you the option of using the cushioned adhesive tabs or glue that are both included in the pack. I find the Gel Fantasy nails don’t budge at all, yet when it’s time to switch to a new set they’re super easy to remove and don't damage my natural nails.

For even quicker application, the Kiss imPRESS nails have a peel off sticky tab so they literally press straight on and have a pressure sensitive adhesive which means they really stick down. I don’t find these last quite as long as the Gel Fantasy nails though but you can also glue them if you want to wear them for a bit longer. I’m obsessing over the Kiss inPRESS Press-On Manicure in Shimmer* which I've been saving for a wedding that we're going to in a few weeks as its the perfect pink to go with my pink floral dress. The colours and patterns in the imPRESS range are so fun and summery so I'm going to get a lot of joy out of them over the next few weeks. I love the accent nails too, it looks like you’ve made much more effort than you really have!

What are your favourite summer nail picks?
