Autumn Foundation Favourites

I usually switch up my foundations pretty regularly, given I'm somewhat of a foundation hoarder it's the only way I get to use all of the products I own, but I've found myself in a happy foundation rut for a few weeks now. I'm really enjoying lighter bases now that my skin's under control, and I'm switching between two offerings that I'm somewhat obsessed with.

As my skin is quite dry I'm always trying to achieve a radiant complexion, whether that be by serums and oils, or primers and dewy foundations. The Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation is the most beautifully glowy base I've found yet. The coverage is light but buildable, and like you would expect from the glow experts, it leaves the most beautiful finish on the skin, skimming over and hiding any imperfections and giving a luminous lit from within glow. This is the one to reach for to disguise a bad night's sleep for sure! Combined with a primer it has great staying power, and it covers well enough to forego concealer too. The packaging is a bit meh though, it has a twist top which pops out a little button that then reveals a pipette - all a bit unnecessary but it does mean you never use more than you need.

At the other end of the spectrum is the NARS' new offering. NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint gives my complexion an almost soft-focus, semi-matte finish and I'm completely obsessed with it! I was worried it would cling to drier areas of my face, but I couldn't have been more wrong - it's really not your usual matte foundation. Every time I wear Velvet Matte Skin Tint I'm complimented on how good my skin looks, as it's practically undetectable - I've also converted a couple of people to it as well. I love that it's formulated with a high SPF 30, which is great as its so important to protect the skin all year round - the winter sun is surprisingly bright and can still cause damage. There's something about matte skin that screams berry lips to me, so it couldn't be more autumn appropriate.

Have you tried either of these?
