New Beauty

I hope you had a great long Easter weekend. I've pretty much spent the last few days getting the house straight and catching up reading blogs and it's been bliss! I'm really not feeling enthusiastic about going back to work tomorrow now. Booo!

I've been testing out some new beauty bits over the last few weeks so thought I'd give you my thoughts on them in a big roundup rather than individual reviews as I find that more interesting to do personally rather than individual posts - what do you prefer?

First up is my favourite of the bunch, the Radical Skincare Youth Infusion Serum*. I've been using this for a few weeks now and held off mentioning it any earlier as I wanted to see what it was like on my skin after starting Roaccutane, which annoyingly drys your skin like nothing else can. The Radical Skincare Youth Infusion Serum is a delicious product which contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin, along with plant stem cells to repair the skin and minimise wrinkles. It also manages to leave my skin feeling super smooth. It's a lightweight, almost runny consistency that sinks in straight away and makes my skin feel nourished, while adding luminosity. It's pricey, but oh so effective and sits nicely in my morning routine as I find it creates a great base for the rest of my skincare and the makeup that follows.

I finished my favourite Dr Dennis Gross eye cream a few weeks ago and thought it was a good opportunity to try out the new Ren Instant Brightening Beauty Shot Eye Lift. This is a gel formula which aims to brighten the under eye area, reduce puffiness and tighten wrinkles over time. I'm really not sure what I think of this yet, I don't find as hydrating as my beloved Dr Dennis Gross cream and I found that if you're a bit heavy handed it feels quite sticky and tight on the skin. I'll keep going with it though and will give you an update on how I'm getting on.

A definite hit is the  Kiehl's Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm. I used the original Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream obsessively about ten years ago so it's a little nostalgic using the balm version. It's pretty much a solid moisturising balm for super dry skin so I added it to my arsenal in waiting for my skin to turn prune-like once the roaccutane kicked in. For now I'm using it in the evening and come morning my skin feels so much more hydrated than before. If I use an oil on its own in the evening now I find my skin is quite flakey in the morning, but the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm certainly puts an end to that. It's great for any dry patches actually, so not just for your face. I can see this being a long-term love already.

Last up is a new body addition; the Nip+Fab Upper Arm Fix*. Now, I was a bit dubious about this one as it aims to improve elasticity, firm and tone your upper arms and I'm not too sure how effective a topical cream can be at this. I've been using it for a few weeks now and I can't really see a difference in the tone or firmness of my arms, however my skin feels much smoother so it's certainly doing something! I tend to get bumpy dry patches on my upper arms which have now vanished. It's actually a gel which surprised me at first, and it goes perfectly with the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour All-Over Miracle Oil for gorgeously nourished, smooth arms.

Have you been trying anything new lately?
