A quick fix for hiding pores and wrinkles

Nip+Fab Viper Venom Micro Blur and Nip+Fab Viper Venom Frown Fix

We've all got little imperfections that we'd rather disguise; whether we think they're worse than they actually are or perhaps too many late nights and pizza have caught up with us (hello). Personally, I have some fine lines here and there and bumpy blemishes that I'd rather not put on Instagram or scare the general public with so I've been using a new duo from Nip+Fab to even things out and hide the evidence.

First up there's the Nip+Fab Viper Venom Frown Fix* which is a neat little twist and click pen that fills in the cracks in my forehead and those dreaded marionette lines, plumping up and hiding my wrinkles. It's a never ending battle to stop my makeup settling in my lines but Nip+Fab Viper Venom Frown Fix has certainly been helping out. It tingles slightly on application while it does its thang and within a few moments my skin looks so much plumper. It also boosts collagen and includes hyaluronic acid to further hydrate and smooth out the skin. I've been keeping this in my makeup bag and dabbing a little extra on later in the day when my makeup needs reviving so it's fast become a favourite of mine.

You probably know by now that I'm a little primer obsessed so I was really excited to try the Nip+Fab Viper Venom Micro Blur Fix*. This is a silicone-based clear primer that as well as mattifying the skin and helping my makeup stay put, also helps to disguise pores and wrinkles. As the Nip+Fab Viper Venom Micro Blur Fix is a matte formula it doesn't have a great amount of slip but I still find that it adds extra moisture to my skin and it really does blur out the lines. It smoothes things out so that my foundation applies perfectly and I also find that my bumpy skin isn't quite as obvious, which, considering it's harbouring Mount Etna on my face is a godsend!  Micro Blur Fix really reminds me of Kiehl's Micro-Blur Skin Perfector actually, so if you're a fan it's worth trying this one next.

In other news, we've finally moved to a bigger house with lots more natural daylight so I'm really excited about blogging more frequently than I've been able to lately. I'm also thinking of including more lifestyle and interior posts so let me know in the comments if that's something you'd like to see.

Winter Skincare Additions

winter skincare

Happy New Year guys! I hope you all had a great Christmas break. The struggle to go back to work this week was real. I think I was actually more bothered about leaving all that chocolate behind and not being able to stuff my face constantly if I'm honest!

Keeping away from the tin of Celebrations will no doubt help improve my problematic skin, but I've also incorporated a few new additions into my skincare routine which are more winter appropriate and geared up to deal with the job in hand. I've been using these for a while now and they're really helping so I thought I'd share them with you.

First up is a new cleanser from one of my favourite brands, Rodial. I'm a full on balm cleanser convert and generally have a few different cleansers on the go at any one time as my skin can really vary from day to day. I've added the Rodial Bee Venom Cleansing Balm* into my morning routine as although it is a nourishing balm, it isn't as thick and balmy as a lot of others. This makes it a perfect morning cleanse as it removes everything it needs to but still leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturised, without leaving a residue. It's pretty refreshing which is ideal for grumpy morning people like me (we've all been there, right?), and the bee venom helps plump up lines and wrinkles, while salicylic acid deep cleans pores and helps heal up and prevent breakouts. Which, is most certainly music to my ears as my skin is still being rather uncooperative.

For a morning toner I'm loving the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, which is the most beautiful bottle of goodness. Not only does it look very pretty but it absolutely transforms my dry skin. It's a refreshing mist that you can use either under or over your makeup, but what is amazing about it is that it's literally a liquid moisturiser. This is so perfect for dry skins in winter and there's even been a few times I've forgotten to put moisturiser on afterwards. It's that good. The only downside is that you can't buy it in the UK. The Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist was the number one most important thing on my New York shopping list and it was sold out in every Sephora! I literally went into every single shop I saw (multiple times) until I finally got this the day before we came home. I bet my mum is still cursing this purple bottle!

The final addition to my morning routine is Oskia Get Up & Glow. It's a serum that you can't quite put your finger on what it does, but you sure as hell know when you've forgotten to put it on. Basically its another great way of combatting the harsh winter weather and means I can get away with a lighter base too - double win. It's a creamy pearlescent colour and helps plump up those fine lines while making it look like you've had more sleep than you have. I'm pretty obsessed with making my skin appear dewy and radiant so this is a firm favourite.

For my evening routine I finally bought the much loved Pixi Glow Tonic as I felt like I was probably the only person on earth that hadn't tried it (ok, extreme perhaps). Exfoliating toners are perfect for gently and effectively resurfacing and refreshing your complexion, and I really count on them when my skin is breaking out as manual exfoliators can hurt. This is a glycolic acid only concoction and I can certainly see why it gets so much attention. It's really helped to keep my skin looking fresh and bright and I find it helps breakouts heal that little bit quicker.

I usually opt for an oil in the evening but I'm alternating between them and the Kate Somerville Deep Tissue Repair at present. Another US purchase, this is perfect for ageing skins and I love how it sinks in quickly and leaves my skin feeling nourished. Packed with peptides, my skin looks and feels noticeably more rejuvenated come morning. I tend to apply this after toner and often sandwich it under the Dr Jart+ Water-Max Sleeping Mask for extra pazazz. If you've wanted to try a sleeping mask but didn't get on with the Origins or Body Shop offerings, this is one well worth checking out. It's more of a gel consistency and not thick and sticky like most others that I have tried. It sinks in straight away so you can safely go to bed without gluing your hair to your pillow! It works to hydrate your skin as it contains hyaluronic acid macromolecules and also strengthens your skin barrier. Heart-eyed emojis all round...

Do you change your skincare in winter as well? If you do I'd love to know your favourite picks.
