Braids by Blo

As summer is now upon us and I had a fair bit cut off my hair recently, I've been trying to get a bit more adventurous when it comes to styling my hair. I love a bit of a curl and a wave, but lately I'm really digging braids. Trouble is, I'm not that good at them. So when I was invited along to Blo Blow Dry Bar in Covent Garden* again to experience their braid menu I was pretty darn excited.

This is was my second trip to Blo (read about my first visit here), and I simply love the concept. You pick a style from the menu and are treated to a wash and blow dry before they get to work styling your hair. For £28 that isn't bad at all. I also love Covent Garden so it was nice to have a little wander around the shops too. If, like me you're not the greatest at styling your hair and go to events and things after work, this is a great fuss-free way to get your hurr did.

Unite hair products

I decided to go all out and pick something I'd never be able to recreate at home, which was Crowning Gloring. It's a full on festival, laid back crown braid which will suit pretty much everyone with mid length hair onwards. My stylist first washed, dried and prepped my hair using Unite products (which I'm now coveting), before getting to work on the style itself. To create texture and give my fine hair a little more texture and grip we went with Unite Beach Day. I do use salt sprays but never though to use one before braiding my hair before so it was good to pick up some tips from the pros.

The braid itself took no time at all and I was really happy with the result. Another way of wearing this kind of style would be to leave wispy bits down and to muss it up a little to add a bit more of a lived in feel. It was literally the hottest day of the year though so I was very happy to have all my hair away from my face and neck, especially when getting back on the tube later!

What do you think of the finished look? Are you a braid fan and have you been to Blo before?
