A little home office wishlist

A little home office wishlist

I've wanted to update my Samsung laptop for a while now and was originally thinking of getting a MacBook Pro, but instead I've decided to go for the iMac as in the long run it's more suited to my needs. So while this is very exciting I was then thinking about where the hell I was going to set up a desktop PC as I currently don't have an office or desk to work from. Yup, I'm guilty of sitting in my pjs with my laptop on my knees. You're welcome for that lovely image!..

The problem is we just don't have the room in our little flat. The spare bedroom has become hubby's man-cave so I tend to retreat to the living room. With some ruthless de-cluttering of DVDs we never watch and a clever re-jig of the furniture I will at last have my own little area in our living room and I can't wait to deck it out.

So a white desk is of course at the top of my list. This Malm dressing table from Ikea is the perfect little desk; it's pretty compact and has a draw which will always come in handy. Because this isn't your regular office space I want a chair that fits in with the décor of my living room (red and black accents), and also one that doesn't wheel about and make lots of noise on our laminate flooring. I love the selection of chairs from Made.com and this Flynn black chair is just gorgeous. It looks nice and comfy and will fit perfectly under the Ikea desk too.

Once my little set up is ready I then need some nic-nacs of course! A lamp is definitely an essential and I absolutely love this copper number from Notonthehighstreet.com. I think it's so chic and will look gorgeous on my desk. I'll need somewhere to put my pens so that the cats don't run off with them - seriously unless its nailed down they will run off with everything! I thought this Swan bowl would be a gorgeous addition perfect for the job.

No office is complete without a little picture so I thought I'd get a couple of prints from Etsy and frame them. This Live Love Meow typography print is rather fitting I think. Lastly, my candle obsession must be taken into account. I have a few dotted around our living room but the Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt candle is my absolute fave at the moment so it has have prime position on my desk.

What do you think of my picks?

  1. Great picks!! LOVE that chair! Ikea had a similar grey one with arms I was lusting after but that is stunning! x ( going to go and make a wishlist for MADE now! )

    1. Thanks! I was impatient and ended up buying an Ikea office chair for a third of the price. I still really want the MADE chair. All of their furniture is swoon-worthy! x

  3. I wish a bowl for my pens would keep my cat off running away with my pens but this little vandal will take off with anything not locked away in a drawer which is to heavy for him to open. I love your ideas for your little corner. I see quite often desks in living room areas and more often then not they completely clash with the interior. Why do people spend loads of money to get a beautiful stylish living room and then install a functional only desk with a clunky computer on it in it?

    1. My cats are little buggers too, if it's not nailed down they'll knock it over! Yeah that's exactly my thought, its a tight fit and we have quite a distinctive décor with salmon pink walls and red curtains/sofa (not your usual blogger white!), so its important that it looks right. xx
