January Favourites

January Favourites

January is finally over and I feel like I can actually get on with the year now. The first and dullest month of every year is always a practise month for me, so now February is here - and it's my birthday month, I'm raring to get going! That said, it's been a month of some change for me, trying to spend less and save for my trip to New York with Tales of a Pale Face in March, eating healthier and also trying to get to grips with having an actual hairstyle that needs styling now. I'm making progress! So here's what's been making me smile this month.

Skincare wise I've been keeping it pretty simple with the only new addition this month being the Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream*. It's recently been reformulated in wake of new additions to the Premier Cru range and I've really been enjoying it this month. The formula has a nice weight to it, its certainly not too heavy so will be a good cream for those tackling puffiness. It leaves the eyes nicely hydrated and soft and is a great base for the Nars concealer - which I'm finding I'm using less of now as a result. Premier Cru brings all of Caudalie's patented ingredients in once place so its not a range to miss if you're into their natural ethos like I am.

Retinol really does work wonders on my skin and it's the one ingredient I always have in my routine without fail. I picked up the Kate Somerville RetAsphere 2-in-1 Retinol Night Cream last time I was in New York and my skin adores it. It includes pure retinol but as its created in a time release technology it doesn't cause any irritation at all. My old blemish marks have almost faded now and my skin is much softer and radiant these days. Kate Somerville is now available in the UK but the selection of products is pretty tiny at the moment. I'm really hoping they expand it as this tube is almost done. It might be a NYC repurchase for me!

January Favourites

For Christmas I was over the moon to be treated to the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand and the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand. Both have been on my wishlist for ages. Being liquid formulas they both blend out beautifully and are really easy to use - even the contour. The highlighter is the most beautiful light rose gold hue which leaves the skin shimmering without creating any extra texture. It might just be my favourite highlighter right now and that's a bit deal. I have the lighter of the two contour colours and it's not too ashy or too warm, just perfect!

The Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer has been my go to for disguising my dark circles and hiding patches of redness. The name is somewhat misleading as I initially thought it would be way to matte and cakey for my reptilian skin. Thankfully it's neither and just looks like skin, while offering a decent amount of coverage. The soft matte element just means it doesn't need to be set with powder and it doesn't crease of budge at all.

The last of my makeup favourites this month is The Ordinary Serum Foundation. It gives the most gorgeous finish to the complexion and even though it's a serum formulation it offers buildable light to medium coverage. I tend to wear it without primer and it melts beautifully into the skin and feels completely weightless. It's dewy, comfortable to wear, comes with a pump and costs less than a tenner. What's not to love?

As my hair is now shoulder length I've been really enjoying styling it with some laid back waves and a whole loada texture! The Oribe Dry Texturising Spray has been my most reached product for doing just that. It smells gorgeous and really plumps up my usually limp hair. It's also invisible so doesn't leave my hair feeling gross. It's a fine-haired girl's dream, that's for sure. It's also crazy expensive so I went for a travel size. I just might have to go the whole hog and pick up a full size can though.

I can't talk about my favourite things of the month without mentioning Grey's Anatomy. I'm super late to the McDreamy train but I've lost HOURS to it this month. I have barely left the house except for work as I'm that hooked. I've laughed, I've cried, and I've gone back in for more. I'm actually not sure how I will cope when I eventually finish it!

What have you been loving this month?
