Three Night Time Beauty Heroes

beauty sleep products

We've all heard that we need at least eight hours of quality beauty sleep every night to ensure we look tip-top and keep ourselves functioning, but does it really make you more beautiful? Technically, the answer is yes, as lack of sleep can make us all look a little more grey and puffy than we'd like, but I always think it's more about how you treat your skin before hitting the sack, so that once your skin gets to work repairing itself it can draw on the very best ingredients while you slumber.

At night your skin has much less disruptions compared to the day, no SPF or makeup to get in the way, and no pollution or free-radicals. This means its the best time to apply your treatments and really take time to use good quality products that have your skin's full attention. My evening routine is so enjoyable, I really find it relaxing to do every night so for me it's really not a chore, although I appreciate for some people it is. Here's three easy night time beauty picks that I think really contribute to my beauty sleep.

SkinChemist Advanced Pro-5 Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream*
Collagen is integral to our skin as it provides it with structure and strength, aiding elasticity and firmness. Decreasing collagen production is also one of the first signs of ageing, as from the age of 20 our skin produces 1% less collagen every year, which is quite alarming if you think about it! So it's certainly an area not to be ignored as we (I) venture into our thirties and beyond.

The SkinChemist Advanced Pro-5 Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream works to boost elasticity and firmness, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles while you sleep, making everything a bit plumper and more radiant. Over the past few weeks that I've been using it I've seen quite a difference already; my skin is super soft, hydrated and visibly more healthy. It has a little shimmer to it which might not be to everyone's taste, but by now you know how much I like radiant and healthy skin so bring on the glow! I tend to use this over a hyaluronic acid serum for a double hit of moisture.

Pestle & Mortar Superstar Retinol Night Oil
I couldn't leave this one out as it's one of my top night time picks. Retinol is essential to my routine now and has been for quite a while so I'm sure to use this at least a couple of night's a week. Retinol helps to re-train your skin, encouraging cell turnover so that fresh new cells come through and fine lines and wrinkles appear diminished, while blemishes are kept at bay. As retinol can be quite harsh and drying on the skin at first, this Pestle & Mortar oil formula is ideal as it's gentle on the skin but does its job at the same time. This is one I tend to use on its own so it can really get to work uninterrupted. As this is an oil it's really hydrating and even after one use you'll see results. A perfect night time all-rounder!

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Overnight Care
For sensitive skin days I always turn to La Roche-Posay. Their Toleriane range has saved my skin so many times now. It's a no-fuss formula which doesn't contain anything contentious or potentially harmful to the skin and it calms down irritated skin literally as you sleep. Since first picking this up last year I always have a bottle in my bathroom and I always reach for it when my skin has an off day. Also perfect for lazy evenings when you just want to crawl into bed! I'm also using the Riche version during the day at the moment and my skin is so happy.

What's your thoughts on beauty sleep and do you have any go-to skincare picks to help you on your way?

The Glossy Dewy Cheek Edit

The Glossy Dewy Cheek Edit

I find it so crazy to think that it wasn't all that long ago that I was so obsessed with creating a perfected base, and now I'm always reaching for much more lightweight barely there products, or sometimes just a smidge of concealer and nothing else.

A Budget Friendly Hair Fixer

syoss-salonplex-hair-renaissance-review

I would be lying if I didn't admit to being somewhat of a shampoo snob. I've used the same trusty Living Proof combo for a year and half which was fine until I recently managed to wreck my hair by dyeing it too frequently and my husband started reaching for my high-end combo. For someone with short hair he's getting through those bottles a bit too quick for my liking!

In a bid to fix my damaged hair I've been trying out a more purse friendly offering from syoss*. The syoss Salonplex Hair Renaissance range* recently launched in the UK and is available along with your weekly grocery shop at Tesco from just £2.00, so my better half can go all out without a scolding. The Salonplex range aims to give salon-like results for very affordable prices. Designed for chemically treated and mechanically stressed out hair (that'll be the straighteners!), the technology within the products works to restore millions of broken hair bonds every time they're used, so over time the hair is strengthened and improved. It also seals the hair fibres to keep protect from further damage.

I've been using the Salonplex Shampoo* and Conditioner* every other day for a couple of weeks now and I'm impressed. My hair is shiny and smooth and looks much better than it has for quite a while. The shampoo is my favourite of the two as it leaves my hair feeling clean but not stripped. The conditioner is pretty standard but detangles my hair nicely without weighing it down, which is quite important for me as my hair is insanely fine and turns greasy super quickly. But the hero of the range for me is the syoss Salonplex Hair Renaissance ReCreator Leave-in Serum*. I use this on both damp and dry hair and it makes my hair feel so silky and it's easy to get a brush through without tugging. I'm trying not to use too much heat on my hair so the ends can go a little bit frizzy if I'm not careful, so a couple of pumps of the serum on dry hair does the trick.

What hair care products are you using at the minute and do you swap and change or do you have a consistent routine? I'm never sure whether consistency is best for hair so let me know what you think.

How To Buy Glossier In The UK & Haul

how to buy glossier in the uk

- sponsored content -

I've wanted to get my hands on Glossier for the longest time, but they don't ship to the UK. A lot of the other American brands like Color Pop and Tarte have made themselves available to us but Glossier are still somewhat coy about it if asked. I had to find a way without physically jumping on a plane myself (maximum devotion points lost there I know), so when myMallBox contacted me to see if I wanted to trial their US shipping service it was fate and I started making my Glossier shopping list straight away.
