Inside My January Makeup Bag

Inside My January Makeup Bag

New year, new makeup - right? I was very lucky to receive a few new beauty bits for Christmas so I re-jigged my makeup bag. It was literally the only thing that inspired me enough to get out of bed and back to work. I swear going back after a holiday gets harder everytime!  So I thought I'd rummage through my makeup bag and show you what will be on my face in this month.

I've not stopped wearing the Bobbi Brown Chocolate Palette since I unwrapped it on Christmas day. I always find their palettes to be so well thought out, but this one is quite exceptional. As well as the four neutral eyeshadows there's three shades for lining the eyes, including the most beautiful navy blue. One thing I will never switch up though is my faithful MAC Pro Longwear Paintpot in Painterly. This has been a staple of mine for probably ten years now, and it creates the perfect eyeshadow base to hide any discolouration and keep everything in place all day.

Charlotte Tilbury is probably one of my favourite brands so I was very happy to finally get the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation at last. It has pretty good coverage but without being heavy or cakey which I really like. It's quite creamy so I tend to buff it into the skin with a brush but then go over with a damp Beauty Blender* to mesh it into my skin. I find that bopping a Beauty Blender over my face to finish applying my base makes my makeup look quite natural but perfected. It really blurs out any lines and keeps things looking fresh.

Underneath my base - and sometimes over the top too, I've been reaching for the Dior Glow Maximiser Light Boosting Primer. It's a highlighter/primer hybrid that's great with makeup or on it's own for some serious glow. Although, I couldn't find a link anywhere for this so it might not be available any more. Of course I'm also layering on the Becca Shimmering Skin Protector Pressed in Opal because I actually can't live without it's dreamy glow.

For concealer I'm still loving the By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Concealer. It's insanely expensive at £44 but as my under eyes are dry and let's face it, have seen better days, this creamy serum formula can't be beaten. It also has skincare benefits which help smooth out the skin so I can fake a few hours extra sleep when really I've been staying up watching speed cleaning videos on YouTube - highly recommend by the way!

Stila is my go to for lips at the moment and I'm either going for the Stila Stay All Day MATTE'ificent Lipstick in Bisou* for the perfect red, or for a more natural paired down look, Coquille, which is a cool toned almost lilac-y nude. The formula of these is really creamy but their staying power is pretty darn impressive. This was my favourite lipstick discovery last year for sure.

I've been trying to grow my brows out for months now after getting a little tweezer happy and destroying them but they're still a little rough around the edges. I've got back into the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade for getting a really clean shape and arch to them. As my hair is lighter I picked up Soft Brown instead of my usual Medium Brown. It's a little more warmer as well as lighter which I think is more flattering.

I keep breaking my nails lately so they're not looking too fabulous, but to help inspire me to look after them better I've got the Smith & Cult Nail Lacquer in Stockholm Syndrome at hand (pun actually unintended for once), for a lovely neutral look. It's such a lovely shade, I can't wait to wear it.

What makeup are you be wearing this month?
