How To Keep Your Skin Happy In The Colder Months

How To Keep Your Skin Happy In The Colder Months

As soon as the weather starts to turn colder around this time of the year my skin can become quite difficult to keep happy. The combination of the colder outside elements, wind and central heating can make my complexion somewhat reactive and sensitive so I like to switch up a few beauty products to keep my skin happy through autumn and winter.

Pixi Nourishing Cleansing Balm
Central heating and the cold really zap my skin of moisture and can leave it really quite sore, so I don't want to cause any further stress by rubbing away at it in order to remove my makeup. A thick balm cleanser such as this Pixi offering gently melts away my makeup, revealing soft and supple skin. I quite often leave this on my skin for a couple of minutes before removing it with a warm damp flannel, leaving my skin feels nourished and comforted. It transforms into a soft milk upon contact with water, washing away the day. It's literally a hug in a tub and my skin adores it.

Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate
When I was on roaccutane my skin became incredibly dry, so adding an oil into my morning step was essential and it's one step I've kept in my morning routine as autumn has come around. This is a super light and fine oil that sinks into the skin and boosts the complexion. It plumps up my fine lines and makes my skin look so radiant - perfect for when I've not had quite enough sleep. It contains a cocktail of naturally derived antioxidant oils so it also helps protect the skin against environmental aggressors.

Ren Flash Defense Anti-Pollution Mist
I always have a facial mist in my bag to refresh my makeup throughout the day, but as the elements outside are getting harsher I've been reaching for this Ren mist quite a bit recently. It's designed to protect against the damaging effects of pollution and promotes cell renewal, so its perfect for city-dwellers and commuters like me. It creates a shield for the skin so I find it sets my makeup and prevents my skin from getting red and angry. And of course it feels lovely to spritz on while on the go.

Aesop Damascan Rose Facial Treatment
By now you're probably aware of my love for a good facial oil, and I always include one in my evening routine. The Aesop Damascan Rose Facial Treatment is super hydrating, so probably more suited to those with dry and problematic skin. It has quite an earthy rose scent to it and a few drops massaged into my skin make all the difference. I can easily leave out a moisturiser as it's so hydrating, and come morning my previously parched complexion feels so soft and nourished.

Which products do you add to your routine in the colder months? Or do you stick to the same routine all year round?
