The Autumn Transitional Makeup Edit

Autumn Transitional Makeup

September for me marks the end of summer and the beginning of my favourite season - Autumn. Okay so Autumn doesn't officially start til 22nd September, but I love it so I'm getting ready early. Yes, I'm sad! Autumn makeup for me means dusky pinks and more mauve tones, and of course a berry lip. I've switched up a few items in my everyday makeup routine so it's edging into more appropriate Autumn tones, so I thought I'd show you a little transitional makeup edit that I'll be rocking this month.

You may notice that there's a product missing from the below photo. I've not worn foundation for a little while now and I'm absolutely loving it. My skin is too dry for foundation right now, as Roaccutane is still making things parched and sensitive. As I don't have any blemishes and my marks have almost faded completely I've embraced it and just used concealer where I need it. My favourite concealer at the moment is the Make Up Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer. This literally covers everything and is hardly detectable. It's also super creamy and not at all heavy or mask-like, so if I have a little redness I use this to disguise it.

For brows, I'm keeping things simple with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer in Soft Brown. I'm more of a Medium Brown, but as my hair is a bit lighter than it was, the lighter, slightly warmer Soft Brown works really well. The slanted tip and spoolie make this so quick and easy to use. I then follow up with Benefit Ready, Set Brow to keep my everything in place. The wand on this took a while to get the hang of, but we're best buds now. Gimme Brow, be scared...

Underneath the eyes I'm using the Dior Fix-It Colour 2-1in-1 Prime and Colour Correct in Apricot. Ridiculously long name aside, this is a creamy colour corrector which cancels out the blue and green discolouration under my eyes and helps hide my eye bags. To prime my eyes I'm always going to use the MAC Paint Pot in Painterly. I'm on I think my sixth pot of this, and haven't worn makeup without this for over ten years. I don't mention this very much which is odd, maybe as its such a permanent part of my routine. It's really amazing and evens out discolouration and clings to eye products, making the colours pop and keeping them in place all day.

The newest edition to my makeup collection is the gorgeous Stila Perfect Me, Perfect Hue Eye and Cheek Palette in Fair / Light*. It's so beautiful and I love how the colours are designed to complement your skin tone perfectly. There's a few versions for different skin types, but if you want a more dramatic look there's nothing stopping you from going for a darker collection of colours. The gold packaging is also a hit, from the gold leopard print on the lid to the gorgeous shades inside, I adore this palette. Perfect Me, Perfect Hue contains five neutral eye shades and two blushes.

The eye shadow shades are so well thought out, they complement one another perfectly and have been carefully curated to provide a base colour, all over lid shade, crease, highlight and even a more dramatic darker purple which looks beautiful smudged into the lash line. I've been using all of the colours together so far to create a pretty contoured eye look and it's a firm everyday favourite for me. The two darker dusky purples also look perfect together as a more dramatic look and I love using the lighter blush high on my cheekbones with the more peachy shade just on the apples for a pretty hit of colour that looks fresh. Perfect Me, Perfect Hue is super pretty and versatile and couldn't be more appropriate for the change in season if it tried.

To finish the eyes I'm reaching for the L'oreal Volume Million Lashes So Couture Mascara. I'm on the fence with this a little, although I love how it creates lots of volume and separation, it smells of play dough...even later on in the day. I've only used it a few times so am hoping when it dries out a bit it's more bearable. Other than that it looks amazing on.

We finally have a NYX stand in Canterbury, and seeing as I've exhausted the lip products from the line already, I recently picked up the iconic NYX High Definition Blush in Taupe to use as a contour. It's got great pigmentation and is pretty cool toned, so perfect for my pasty complexion. For highlight, my Becca obsession is still going well, and the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter Pressed in Opal is so flattering. I go crazy with this - probably should tone it down before I blind someone...

What makeup are you taking into Autumn with you?
