A Trio Of Summer Bases

A Trio Of Summer Bases

With summer now upon us in the UK, I'm enjoying keeping things nice and light on my complexion. Now that my blemish marks are fading, I find that all I need is a light fuss-free base to even out any redness and keep my skin glowing.

Over the last few weeks I've done exactly that, keeping it simple with this little round up of bases. One that I recently dug out and have been really enjoying is the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream. With a generous SPF30, this dewy gel-cream formula is a dream to wear. It's light and hydrating, almost undetectable; but somehow makes my skin look so much more healthy and lit from within. It's so easy to apply, and I usually opt for using my fingers to lightly smooth the soothing cream across my face. This is one that's definitely coming away with me next week when we head over to Monaco for a few days.

I'm still getting the odd tiny lump and bump, which is more to do with the dryness and irritation that Roaccutane has brought to my skin, and annoyingly I recently had a bit of a reaction to MAC Face & Body recently which resulted in lots of angry pinhead spots. On days like these when I want to heal and disguise any imperfections, the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo + Unifiant* has been my go to. A new launch in the range, this sheer coverage base is a tinted version of my much loved Effaclar Duo. Effaclar Duo + Unifiant has pretty good, buildable coverage for a sheer product and it blurs out any imperfections instantly, while working to clear breakouts over time. Shade-wise I have the lightest of the two shades, but would welcome a slightly lighter shade if it were available.

The final product in my little trio is the L'oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation. Now, I kind of ignored this one for a while until the initial fanfare from the beauty press calmed down, but now it's in my possession I'm rather smitten. Encased in a sponge, this Korean inspired foundation offers a super flattering dewiness that I can't get enough of. When I want my skin to really look its best and to be flawless, this is the one I reach for. The coverage is pretty decent too, given that it is a lighter hydrating formula. I really want to try out the cushion bronzer from the same range now as well.

What bases are you loving for summer?
