One Wash Wonder Eyeshadows

One wash wonder eyeshadows

My everyday eye makeup routine is pretty simple; usually a shimmery taupe or brown swept across the lid and a darker matte hue pushed into the crease for a bit of definition. But sometimes it calls for an even quicker simple look and that's when I go for a few trusted one wash wonder eyeshadows. Super low maintenance yet really flattering (and you can stay in bed longer). Triple win!

A well loved classic, and for good reason. This twist up eyeshadow stick of 2014 blogger fame couldn't be more flattering or easier to apply. It's quite a unique pinky silvery shade which somehow looks different on everyone. On me it looks quite taupey with a hint of lilac and it really brings out my brown eyes. While every brand these days has their own version of the ByTerry Ombré Blackstars, nothing quite rivals them, especially this dreamy shade.

Not quite as shimmery as Misty Rock, this nude eyeshadow stick from Clinique is great for lazy days and a messy bun. It's a no fuss formula and it lasts all day without looking overdone. It's especially nice when paired with brown mascara for proper off duty model vibes (yeah, I can wish).

I'm quite a cream shadow convert as I find the colour pay off to be awesome and they're great as a base to powder shadows. This cream shadow from Illamasqua doesn't look like much in the pot but once patted onto my eyelids it really comes to life. It's a pearlescent creamy shade which can easily hide a late night and too much pizza. Yep, Monday mornings look much perkier and almost bearable. Almost.

Quite easily a staple that everyone should own, Pale Barley is a stunning neutral taupey brown. Yes, another taupe I know but if you only own one then it should be this iconic shade from Burberry. It's one that I turn to when I'm maybe feeling uninspired makeup wise or if I'm wearing a bright lip and want something quite simple yet flattering. It's slightly shimmery and is well pigmented. One warning, you'll want to buy the entire Burberry line after trying this!

Slightly cheating as there's more than one shadow here but I'm obsessed with this palette so it had to be included, soz. Super pigmented and more buttery than butter (almost), any of the shades in the Cocoa Blend palette are awesome on their own. I particularly love Full Ganache, a golden shimmer, Subtle Blend, a rich brown and Sweeter End, an eye-opening pinky lilac shade.

Another classic rich taupey brown, this is so pigmented and has a great amount of shine to it. It almost looks like a wet and dry shadow as its so striking, Woodwinked has to be my top eyeshadow pick from MAC. Definitely one to swatch next time you're at a counter.

These are a few of my favourite one wash wonder eyeshadows but I'd love to know what yours are too so please let me know in the comments. Did you see any of yours here?

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour All-Over Miracle Oil

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour All Over Miracle Oil

As diligent as I am with my skincare routine and applying a nourishing moisturiser, I do tend to neglect my body. Having dry skin, this is quite unforgiveable but I honestly struggle to find body products exciting enough to slather myself in them daily. And of course, there's the hopping about in the buff as you wait for it to dry before pulling on your pjs! Nightmare.

But that all changed when I was sent the new Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour All-Over Miracle Oil* recently. Joining the ever popular and iconic Eight Hour family, Elizabeth Arden's first oil is quite something. Proven to hydrate for up to 12 hours, it's a luxurious multi-purpose product that I've been smothering myself in. It's really convenient to use as it's housed in a spray bottle so I've been liberally spritzing this onto damp skin after a bath before massaging in. It's very conditioning and comforting and although it does sink in well (meaning I can put my pjs straight on - hurrah!), it really does hydrate for as long as it promises.

The main ingredient in the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour All-Over Miracle Oil is Tsubaki oil which is derived from the Camellia flower. Tsubaki oil is anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative, and also contains a combination of Omegas 6 and 9 to nourish the skin and boost collagen production, resulting in perfected, plumped and smooth skin. The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour All-Over Miracle Oil also contains Vitamin E to protect against free radicals and Avocado, Olive and Sunflower oil for an extra hit of moisturising goodness.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour All Over Miracle Oil

As I mentioned, the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour All-Over Miracle Oil can be use all over the body, hair and face and I've been doing exactly that. I tend to massage a pump or two through the ends of my hair and use whatever is left on my face. It's a lightweight oil which my skin drinks in, leaving it soft and nourished.

The oil also smells rather dreamy so it's a great addition to a relaxing evening routine. My skin certainly looks more radiant and I've not actually needed to add a moisturiser on top. To really maximise the benefits of your skincare, the oil can be massaged into your morning moisturiser or even mixed with a full coverage foundation to sheer it out and give you a more dewy complexion.

If you're also guilty of neglecting your pins, this is one product you have to look into. Dry winter lizard skin I am so over you.

February beauty favourites

It's been a while since I've droned on about the things that I've been loving, so today I thought I'd take you through some recent favourites.

First up is the extremely gorgeous Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette. Last year I really wanted to add this to my collection but held off for some unknown (crazy) reason. And then came Christmas and of course it was popped on my list. It's one of those palettes that you know for sure you'll use every colour. The shadows are super butterly and blendable and I cannot get enough of the gorgeous warm tones. However many palettes you have already, you need this!

Heading onto skincare, I've been misting the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Mist like it's going out of fashion. Which, considering you can't buy it in the UK might be a little silly of me. It really is like a liquid moisturiser and leaves my dry and dehydrated skin feeling so comfy and soft. It's also great spritzed over makeup to set things in place. Oh Tatcha, please come to the UK...

Liquid lipsticks are huge right now, literally every single brand has their own version. I came across Dose of Colors on Instagram and managed to track down the Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipstick in Truffle, which is a dreamy dusty nude pink. Its so flattering on my pale skin and it lasts for ages. Beauty Bay have started to stock Dose of Colors but the shade range is pretty limited. If you can get this though, make sure you do (also get Stone, it's a beaut as well). My lips are fairly dry but yet I find this so comfortable to wear and it doesn't dry things out further.

Lastly I have to mention the Becca Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop. If you haven't bought this yet/have been living under a rock, please get yourself to Space NK and swatch this! It suits all skin tones and adds the most gorgeous highlight. I love champagne hues and this doesn't disappoint. Even though it's pretty out there and shimmery I wear it on a daily basis. I don't think I do, but if I look like a disco ball I really don't care. This highlight is far too amazing not to rock whenever you can.

What have you been loving recently?
