Winter Hair Care

winter hair care

My hair routine is pretty minimal as I'm not the greatest at styling it and I find that it easily looks too overdone if I'm not careful. I've been growing my hair for the last few months so I'm really concentrating on keeping it healthy and happy for now. I thought that as I'm really happy with the products I'm using at the moment I'd share my winter hair care routine with you today.

I have super fine hair so I feel like I'm always looking for the ultimate shampoo and conditioner pairing that will keep my hair feeling really clean and light, but adding a bit of volume and shine into the mix while also keeping the frizz at bay. Now that's a lot to ask for so surprisingly its an ever growing search, but I think I've finally found the right products for the job.

I start off with the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Shampoo and Conditioner which are designed to improve the condition of your hair over time. Basically it's perfect hair in a bottle! The Perfect Hair Day range keeps your hair cleaner for longer as the products manage to repel dirt, meaning that I can get an extra day out of each wash before reaching for the dry shampoo. My hair feels really fresh after using these and not at all coated or weighed down as there's no silicone or sulphates in there - perfect for my coloured tresses. Before drying my hair I work a small blob of the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap Overnight Perfector into the lengths of my hair and this totally removes any frizz and once blow dried my hair is ready to go. The results then last until your next wash. The only downside? The Night Cap Overnight Perfector isn't available in the UK at the moment. Escentual carry a few bits but apparently the range is properly launching in the new year under a different name so that will be a happy day for me!

I also religiously apply a hair oil to the tips to help the condition of my hair and to add a bit of shine and I'm still working my way through the O&M Frizzy Logic Shine Serum*. It smells amazing and although this little bottle is nearly empty, it's lasted me absolutely ages. I'll definitely be picking up another one of these. I recently reviewed the Colour Excellence Hair Detox and I've now added the Colour Excellence Highlights Brightener* into the mix. This treatment is great to use once a month or so and it removes product build up, leaving coloured hair and highlights more vibrant. It's especially designed to not strip colour and makes my copper hair really shine.

As I'm trying to look after my hair I only use the Wet Brush* on it. It doesn't snap or pull my hair and it's even safe to use on wet hair - hence the name of course! I really like paddle brushes too, so to have one that doesn't damage my hair is awesome. On the rare occasion I heat style my hair I spray some of the Bumble & Bumble Does It All Styling Spray into my hair before putting a few very messy loose waves in with my GHD straightener. This is a bit of a miracle worker as it's light, but definitely helps my hair hold a curl as short of putting super dooper strong hold hairspray in, nothing else does. I hate crispy hair and need some help in the hold and texture department which Does It All does to a T. Plus the can is mahoosive so it should keep me going for quite a while yet!
