A new hair repairing duo

repairing damaged hair

After being a bit cruel to my hair this year and heat styling it a fair bit (not to mentioning bleaching it twice - oops), I've been feeling a bit remorseful for my poor tresses. Things have been feeling a bit more dry and damaged than usual so I've incorporated a couple of new products into my routine to help repair the damage to my hair and to add a bit of vitality and strength.

My hair is really fine but I seem to have a hell of a lot of it, so I really like light formulas where possible. I've used lots of oils aimed at repairing damaged hair in the past but only a few have ever actually delivered results. I recently received the Revlon Professional Orofluido Asia Zen Control Elixir* and it's made quite a difference already. Formulated with Asian ingredients, this rather decadent smelling hair oil works to limit frizz, smooth hair and add shine. It also contains a UV filter to protect against sun damage and bamboo rice extract which helps improve elasticity. All sounds pretty good, right? What really got my attention was that one of the ingredients is rice extract which helps seal split ends and strengthens the hair. I've been using this for a few weeks now and I've hardly made a dent in the bottle. I use a fairly generous amount to damp hair and work it through the lengths, and then add a little to dry hair to seal the ends and add shine. I can see this bottle lasting me a very long time.

The Orofluido Asia Zen Control Elixir is an absolute pleasure to use. As I mentioned before, the scent is amazing; quite sweet and fruity which is all down to camellia oil. It's so incredibly uplifting and makes you feel, well, quite zen! Formula-wise, it's a super lightweight oil but it really does pack a punch. It's undetectable in the hair and doesn't weigh it down or make my hair feel sticky or greasy. My hair has been so much softer and full of vitality and hasn't turned into it's usual frizzy mess in this humid heat.

After applying the Orofluido Asia Zen Control Elixir to damp hair and combing through with my Wet brush I then add a little blob of the Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Creme Oil* to the lengths for good measure. This is a blow dry cream which aims to limit drying time while giving a good dose of argan oil to moisturise and protect against the sun's rays. In fact, it's mission statement is pretty identical to that of the oil but the combination of the two is where it's at. The Soy Renewal Creme Oil is perfect for fine hair as it's super lightweight in formula and sinks in so well. It feels almost a little silicon-y but it smoothes into my hair beautifully and you can't feel it at all. The soy protein helps to repair and strengthen damaged hair and I've definitely been reaping the benefits. My hair feels a lot stronger and my split ends are a lot less noticeable. Hopefully enough that my hairdresser won't give me too much of a telling off when I next go for a trim...

Have you tried either of these and do you like to mix products?
