At home microdermabrasion with Silk'n ReVit

Microdermabrasion has always sounded a little scary to me, but that couldn't be far from the truth. It's basically a facial treatment which deeply exfoliates the skin, promoting cell turnover and whilst doing so reduces lines, removes acne scars and aims to leave your skin more youthful and radiant. I've never had an in-salon microdermabrasion treatment before (a course of treatments is pricey), but now that I'm 32 *gulp*, ageing is something I'm getting increasingly worried about so I've been wanting to try this for a while.

I've been trialling the Silk'n ReVit Diamond Peeling Microdermabrasion Device* (£88.55) since December, using it 1-2 times a week and I'm pretty impressed with this little gadget. What apparently sets this apart from most microdermabrasion treatments is that it uses diamond abrasion rather than crystal which can leave aluminium oxide particles behind which can irritate the skin.

If you've been reading Lelore for a while you will know that I'm always moaning about having dry, sensitive skin. As it is dry I do need to exfoliate properly 2-3 times a week so Silk'n ReVit has made fast work of this. The device itself is mains operated which was music to my ears as I hate waiting for things to charge! It's a really fine tool that exfoliates the skin and as it's handheld you can target specific areas. Silk'n ReVit comes with 3 different detachable heads, precision, fine and coarse and has two speeds so you can decide which best suits you. I mainly use the precision and fine heads but if you need to you can use the stronger coarse head for more intense exfoliation. I typically use it for about 5 minutes a time, starting on my cheeks and working my way around my face. It is a bit odd to begin with as it creates a vacuum on the skin, so it's literally like vacuum cleaning your skin and sucking out the old dead skin cells. As gross as that might sound it really works! Afterwards I apply a nourishing serum and follow with an oil or night cream and my skin absorbs products more quickly so they get to work that little bit faster.

6 weeks on, my skin looks and feels so much better. The lines from my nose to mouth are less defined and I had a horrible bumpy area of skin above my lip that's now completely smooth. My skin feels a lot softer than before and my acne scars are less visible. My skin is definitely more radiant and glowy and I've been able to ditch concealer. Even though I have sensitive skin I haven't had any irritation at all. As ReVit is so easy to use, with no mirror needed, I've incorporated it into my routine really easily and would highly recommend it if you are either seeing signs of ageing or if your skin is lacklustre and dull. They also have loads of other devices, from the newly launched cellulite busting gadget to hair removal, so if you wanted to try a treatment but are put off by salons I'm sure there's a Silk'n gadget to suit.
